Greyville Convention Centre is a world-class event space housed in the historic, worldfamous, and highly regarded Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse. Having hosted Queen
Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh, and a number of other dignitaries from around the
world adds to the thrill, glamour, history, and attraction of the Greyville Convention Centre,
which has been synonymous with flair and hosts the annual Hollywoodbets Durban July.
The Greyville Convention Centre is a multi-venue setting that is ideal for hosting a wide
variety of events, including business conferences, weddings, product launches,
exhibitions, meetings, and more. It has been serving the community for over 25 years and
is a well-known landmark. This establishes us as one of the country's most prestigious
convention venues.
The Greyville Convention Centre is more than just a gorgeous face; it's also a place where

Home to Africa’s Greatest Horseracing Event, the Hollywoodbets Durban July,
Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse hosts a total of nine Grade One races during South
Africa’s Champions Season.
Framed in the background by the many hotels of Durban’s Golden Mile, Hollywoodbets
Greyville Racecourse is situated at the bottom of Durban’s Berea and surrounds the green
expanse of Royal Durban Golf Club’s championship course. The right-handed track is
pear-shaped and covers a distance of 2800 metres with 2400 metres under floodlights. A
road from the Berea to the centre of the city passes under the course.
The construction of the two subways to accommodate this road resulted in the course
having a number of unusual gradient features:
– an uphill section from the 2 200 metre mark up to the 1 800 metre mark.
– thereafter a gentle downward slope to about the 1200 metre mark.
– an uphill section follows from the 1000 metre mark into the straight.
– an almost level 450 metre final straight to Greyville’s famed winning post.
On 11 June 2014 Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse raced for the first time on its new
Polytrack. Positioned inside the turf track the 2000 metre Polytrack, which accommodates
a maximum field size of twelve, has proved very popular.
Traditionally, two races are contested on the Polytrack at the Hollywoodbets Durban July
Racemeeting.
Polytrack racing takes place on scheduled nights and occasionally during Champions
Season.
The Greyville Convention Centre exists to benefit the people of Durban by creating new
economic activity and jobs, fostering the growth of the surrounding neighbourhood, and
conducting its business in the public interest in accordance with the city's stated social,
economic, and environmental goals. To achieve these goals, GCC works to increase the
number of trade shows, conventions, public shows, and special events held at the
Greyville Convention Centre and the surrounding community.
This helps to boost regional
spending, add jobs to the local economy, and bring in steady revenue for the city of
Durban. By adhering to the highest standards of professionalism, generating enough
operating revenue to be financially self-supporting, maintaining the convention centre
facility in accordance with our core values, and making sure our operations are consistent
